General Trail Riding Requirements

 

Know where you are permitted to ride. Use Trail maps and obey signs.

 

Respect closed areas and private property.

Stay on marked trails at all times.

Respect the rights of others on trails. Be courteous.

If you "pack it in," "pack it out." Trash is an eyesore and hazardous to the environment.

Ride at a safe speed. These trails are for family fun riding and not a motorcross race track.

Do not tailgate other riders. Pass only at areas with adequate space.  Clearly signal or communicate your intentions to other riders.

Do not consume alcoholic beverages or impairing drugs/medications prior to or during trail ride.

All trail riders must have a wristband.

Adult supervision is required for all minors under the age of 18.

All trail riders must exit the trail at the posted closing time or at the end of their allotted time.

Riders must stop if signaled by trail safety/control personnel.

All riders must have photo identification at all times.

It is recommended that riders carry a functional cell phone in case of emergency. Dial 911 for all emergencies. VMP-ATV works with local emergency response teams to ensure quick response in the event of accidents. VMP-ATV has a first-aid certified response person on duty during hours of operation.

Safety training certification

 

All Trail riders:

Must present an ATV Safety Training certificate during their initial ticket purchase or initial trail ride

 

OR

 

Must sign a statement that they have received ATV Safety Training or that they are already trained in the use of off-road vehicles and declines training. TRAINING IS NOT REQUIRED IF YOU ARE ALREADY TRAINED AND KNOW HOW TO USE AN ATV OR UTV.

 

 

ATV Safety Training is available through Ride-safe Virginia at www.ridesafeva.org. The cost of safety training is $10/person.

Trail construction and maintenance

 

Trails will be mapped using GPS technology. When available, maps will be updated regularly and available at the trail ticket office.

Field crews perform daily inspections and maintenance on all trails.

Trail safety/control personnel monitor all trail riding activities during hours of operation.

All trails are marked and rated according to skill level:

Beginner

Intermediate

Advanced
